Center for Musculoskeletal Oncology

The USC Center for Musculoskeletal Oncology brings together a broad range of subspecialists to offer patients comprehensive and innovative diagnostic and treatment services for the complex treatment of musculoskeletal tumors. Our multidisciplinary team of experts is committed to providing the most safe, effective and individualized care to our patients. Because of their rarity and complexity, musculoskeletal tumors may pose particularly difficult diagnostic and treatment challenges. Thus, most patients with musculoskeletal tumors are more efficiently evaluated and managed at a center with an active orthopaedic oncology service such as ours.

The team reviews each case at a weekly multidisciplinary conference in order to formulate an accurate diagnosis and treatment plan.

Treatment Expertise

The USC Center for Musculoskeletal Oncology offers patients with musculoskeletal tumors evaluation and treatment through the least invasive techniques available. Malignant tumors of the musculoskeletal system are often treated with complex multi-modality methods, which can include chemotherapy, radiation and surgery, either alone or in combination. This complex treatment requires a sophisticated coordination of care, which the center delivers with professionalism and compassion. Because of the center’s extensive experience in treating complex oncologic conditions, the group is also readily able to treat virtually any tumor-like condition and complicated case scenario (trauma, infection, revision).

A Multidisciplinary Approach to Care

Led by Dr. Lawrence Menendez, the USC Center for Musculoskeletal Oncology is staffed by an experienced and multidisciplinary team, which includes:
